Yeah, play together, why not? They have nothing to prove, their status in music world assured.... go out and take a bit of a risk. If not now, when?

Just john and keith
And Eric and Mitch…

Potential for the greatest “pickup” band ever—and they recorded only two songs, one of which was ruined by Yoko.

I’ve never heard this said by anyone of any importance, but I personally feel one of the reasons they (the Stones) didn’t release the “Rock & Roll Circus” any earlier because of that one song by Yoko…

They officially said it was because they weren’t happy with their performance (as a band), but they released several things (before and since) that were (IMHO) below the quality of their performance on “R&RC”, so I don’t think that was the only reason.

If they’d released it shortly after the recording, they knew by cutting that screech song, it would have upset Winston John…

If they had released it immediately after Legg-Thigh’s Lennon’s death, it would have been a gauche money grab (especially if it was revealed they’d removed Yoko’s song) and it would have detracted from Tattoo You and the Tattoo You tour…

And when they finally did release it, there’d been a great clamoring for almost three decades, and nobody would fault them for the presence of the Yoko track (since on CD it’s a lot easier to skip tracks) and their recent work had not been as well-received.

JMHO and a little conjecture.

I’m not as sure I’d use the term ‘phoning it in’ however it seems to me their best is behind them all.

This is surely a good way to sell records though.
