"Wicked" Wilson Pickett
A good pop song, with a great melody that we all remember...
Despise it, it brings up a visceral ugh! in me- why, I'm not quite sure, but it does. Bubblegum rock in general also does it to a lesser degree.
"Makes me want to put my fist through the wall" - Mike Nesmith
how many other folks had the cereal box 45?
For what it is, it does it very well. I don't think that anyone making "Sugar Sugar" was trying to make a piece of art, it was a song for kids to dance to. It's not for everyone, but when I'm in the mood for sixties pop this song makes me smile.
These guys were borderline bubblegum but liked this Cleveland band.
When I hear it, my mind sees the little cartoon-band-loop where the mouths say the same wrong words every six seconds. And someone bang-plays an organ with their wrists arched.
Looks like I'm in the minority,
But I just have this nostalgia of the memory of (even as early as 6 or 7 in the mid 1960's) discovering and loving just about everything coming out of my AM radio. Thru the 1970's or so...I just loved it.
So this song is a part of it.
Always liked this one… would love to play it even.
However, as a father of daughters it brings out feelings better left in dark places.
I blame my diabetes on this song.
How did that ever get past the AM censor-nazis?
I’d like to see “the Groovy Ghoulies” cover it!
Well, if it's this or metal, give me some DeFranco Family too.
a likkle Bob Marley & The Wailers treatment:
If this had come out first, the song wouldn't have been a joke. I don't think there is any song he can't make great.
Never listen to words...I guess I could of posted different ones.
I should post different ones..I never listened to words..just AM thingy
