Hi folks, I've had my tele for a few years now, and I've just started looking for another guitar to compliment my tele. I really want something that can inspire me or shine where my telecaster does not, something that feels and plays differently and sounds much different. What sort of direction should I be looking in, what are your stories, have you found the ying to the yang? I'm just looking for ideas and opinions!

btw I play mainly rock music, with a bluesy, classic feel. :p

EDIT: I'm also a bigsby fanatic, I gotsta have the wiggle-stick!

Either a nice semi-hollow or a Les Paul ought to suit you fine.

A member on here has a tele with just a dimarzio 36th anniversary neck pickup, no bridge pickup. That's probably the anti-tele.

I'm thinking a les paul will give you the blues rock yang to the tele yin.

A humbucker of some sort- maybe some sort of Les Paul. I'd look at a Carvin if I were to buy a h/b guitar.

Thanks for the suggestions folks, keep em coming. I was actually thinking along the lines of something with a gibson quality, like a firebird (mmm non-reverse firebird), or a hollowbody with humbuckers.

The bridge pickup of my epi lp special (2 p90s) reminds me of a tele... The neck pickup does not.

The bridge pickup looks really really close to the bridge on the pics I've seen of that... I guess its only a cm or 2 closer than a les Paul but it looks a little weird to me

As kanye west would say, just saayyinnnn

Overall the anti tele may be a PRS.. humbuckers, set neck and the opposite aesthetic.

These are fun and cheap! I got one under the christmas tree right now. For $350 you get a hollow body with P90's and a Bigsby.

Take a look at the PRS Studio...

Played one.. Loved it. I'm a Tele guy by birth. It makes whatever sound you want.. Tele, Strat , LP..

If playing a Tele is like driving a '53 Ford F100 pickup.. The PRS is the Lamborghini of the guitar world. It feels refined and is so dang easy to play. The analogy may be a bit off, but you get my idea.

+1, forget my suggestion :D. You don't even have to spend a couple grand on the Fly. They make some very nice and versatile guitars in the $600 price range. I have a PM20 and its not only eye candy but sounds and plays great.
