This is one of the many kooky characters Carl played on the Dick Van Dyke Show, in addition to Alan Brady of course. It cracks me up every time I see it. Pure comedy genius IMO.

"He says things that seem vague, but are in reality meaningless."

The clip didn't get to that part. I've used that line time and again to describe bosses I've had.

Then, at the end of the episode, "I don't own a television machine!"

Great episode. DVD Show was one of the most creative comedic shows ever!

He and Mel Brooks still hang daily and are both still geniuses.

Carl Reiner is TRULY a genius.
One of my favorites, which doesn't get any exposure anymore, is his project with Steve Martin, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. I guess there aren't enough "smart" people left around to appreciate it. Here's a tiny clip with Carl and Steve.....watch the whole film if you can.....the entire premise is beyond clever.

They watch "Jeopardy" together every night.

He's 97 and appears to be in unbelievable shape, both mentally and physically.

Yes, he is. I've read that he's had another comedy series in development for a few years about life in a "senior living" residence. I hope someone buys it.

He was great in the Ocean's 11 trilogy, too. His take on an eccentric English gent was a hoot!

2020 is going to be a stressful enough year for me on many fronts. I need them both to live a least two more years. Not sure how I will handle a world without Mel Brooks.... I don't even want to mention it. But they are in their 90s. And there has just been so many celebs lately.... Oh man I gotta stop there.

They are THE geniuses. None like them. (See my signature line.)

Love love love that movie. Technically flawless, brilliant premise, perfectly executed. A parody and a homage at the same time? That’s a tightrope few can walk.
