and I am referring to a song that speaks to your spiritual side without being obviously or purposely written so. Show me “The Way” by Frampton has been almost a prayer if I listen a certain way. Makes me like it more.

Lots of Pete Townshend's songs can be taken as love songs to either a woman, a higher power, or his guru, Meher Baba: "Bargain," "A Little is Enough," "Love Reign O'er Me," "Let My Love Open the Door," "Don't Let Go the Coat," etc.

Some of George Harrison's songs on All Things Must Pass work in a similar fashion.

I'm not a particularly 'spiritual' person in any way, but this live version of 'Persephone' from Wishbone Ash always leaves me with my feet not quite touching the ground after listening to it...

Superb musicianship from all involved, and the lyric moves me. Andy Powell's closing 3 minute guitar solo is transcendental IMHO. So, is this spiritual? In my world, yes.

I first heard Rush’s The Trees back around high school days, listening to KISW radio out of Seattle (before they went grunge). I was drifting into sleep but still slightly conscious and hearing this music and the words seemed to transport me and I could imagine the forest and rivalry of trees. Good topic, Tele-beeb!

I've seen this one played by a church band. Came off pretty well, I just had as never thought of it in that way

When asked, Andy said there wasn't anything particularly spiritual about the song. They'd been reading in the Biblical book of Revelation and wrote it in response.

Booby Whitlock postulates this was written by Carl Radle, and was “appropriated” by DB.
    Great, memorable song.
Almost sounds like it was written by Don Gibson.

This is another prime example of how a good bass line can make a song:
    better
    happier
    groovier
    scary(er)
    bolder
    the list goes on….

There is a spiritual/gospel element in quite a few EC tunes.

Have no idea what Lisa Gerrard is going on about here, but it does not matter. From the first time I ever heard this, it has always moved me deep in a very unexplainable way...

Hearing her sing it live- twice- has been a highlight of life.
