Looks more like a Roland Jazz Chorus to me.

Sounds fine to me as well.

Pedal?

Facing rear Vibrolux is more his standard.

More edge and bite

Wonder why the Roland at Carnegie ?

Ouch, that treble!

I'm not sure which amp Buchanan is plugged into here. There were other guitarists on the bill that night, too, right? Lonnie Mack and Albert Collins?

Edit to add: I'm guessing the Quad Reverb is Albert Collins' amp and the Marshall is Lonnie Mack's. The Roland is probably Roy Buchanan's, or at least what he used that night. I don't know him well enough to know if he always traveled with his own amp. It would be strange to just go with whatever rental the venue gave for a big show at Carnegie Hall, but also it could be the result of the vagaries of the road, airlines, his usual amp needing work, Buchanan going through a rough patch and not caring, etc.

He still sounds like his usual loud, icy blast.

Indeed both those guys played that night but I do not see another guitar amp on stage while Roy is playing.

I think there is a clear tone difference in these two performances as well.
