When the Wash. DC area Classic Rock station, WCXR ( long gone) first came out in the late '80's or early '90's- they really played a ( great!) broad/rich selection of '60's and '70's rock, with plenty of ' deep cuts' that weren't just featured or isolated as such, they just played it all! Pop, psychedelic, Rock, R&R, Stax, Motown, AOR...
Sorry, a LONG way to say this Steppenwolf song was in rotation!

Great selection on the Townshend/Lane collaboration "Rough Mix"! Great overlooked album.

Did you ever notice that "State Trooper" and "Open All Night" share certain lyrics? I wonder if they're supposed to be a play on a theme, because the main character isn't of the same "frame of mind."

In "Open All Night," the music and the character seem excited to get on the road and see his "baby," while in "State Trooper" things get...DARK!
