When you hurt yourself just sleeping
Someone offered me his seat on the tube the other night.
When you can't sleep and are pacing round the living room at 3am, turn on a TV quiz show that makes you drowsy - but worst of all, hit 'record' so you can watch the end the next day.
"40 ? Ha ! You're going into the prime of your life."
-- right on...me and my wife didn't have kids till I was 38....(our first will be graduating from HS very soon)
Try doing all that when you're 10 years older . (and still doing it....)
"ovet the hill" is just a state of mind. I don't go there.
Particularly with a musical instrument, as long as you can challenge yourself, and meet that challenge, you leave one hill and move onto the next. At 73 I'm still learning.
The moment you realize you're over the hill means you've been following the advice to head for the hills!
I'm not sure I'm with you on this one. It strikes me that it's more likely the kind of pan handling folks stuck in minimum wage jobs are forced to do. I can carry the bags just fine myself, but if asked I'd let the bagger carry them and give him a couple of dollars for his effort. A couple of dollars is meaningless to me. It's not insignificant to someone making $12 an hour.
Im 6 months retired and very recently realized one of the best things about it
6 months ago I was the old dog at work...and now Im the young retiree...
They are supposed to get tipped for helping an old guy with his groceries? Well, being such a cheapskate, that'll keep me fit.
"One man's ceiling is another man's floor." So said Paul Simon.
Our very good friends were in their late 30's and expecting their one and only child. (A girl, who just turned 20 and is the apple of our collective, totally unbiased eyes.) They were in to see the gynecologist for the first time. They could see her make a brief note in their chart. She was then called away for a minute. They quietly turned the chart around to see what she'd written.
Two words: "Parents elderly."
LOL...yep......my wife was of "Advanced Maternal Age" for # 2..... she loved that....
My wife is a doctor. The technical term for when a woman 35 or older is having her first pregnancy is "elderly primate pregnancy", or "elderly primigravidae": https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25185379
That's funny, so is mine.
Here's a kicker: I was hanging out at the nursing home where my GF worked, waiting for her to get off work. "Stairway to Heaven" came over the music system, & I saw one of the residents mouthing the words. Very depressing.
When I received an invitation to my High School reunion #50...those people looked ancient!
What's depressing about enjoying music? It wasn't Robert Plant was it? That would be depressing.
The 50th anniversary of its release will be next year!
My 12-year old niece asked me to flex my arm so she could check out my bicep.
She gave my arm a squeeze and pronounced “fat!”
I love that kid!
