In another life I speak and write on politics. I have a book on amazon for example. If you’re interested in Australian politics fm me and I’ll send you the details.

The point is this is to demonstrate how much I enjoy politics.

But as much as I’d love to discuss what’s going on around the world I do think it’s better we don’t. It’s a hard call for the mods so I thank them too.

Sad, speaking out against racism is still a ‘political’ issue.

I’m certain the mods would shut down any racist posts. And that anyone is welcome here. We live in stupid times. Thank providence we have telecasters and amplifiers. And other gear. And tools to modify them. And the choice not to. And the means to discuss, laugh, cry, share and love each other.

This is the stuff that matters here.

Ah but you know that’s not always true. I love the moderation here, it’s a place to have good adult discussions, and I can follow rules without a problem. Telecasters and twang unite us, no? I know Red means well too, so I don’t want this good-will thread shut down. Just sayin’.

In the ideal world we wouldn't have to. Of course if you see something potentially offensive the Admins no doubt appreciate a PM heads-up.

But it's a guitar-oriented site and a sanctuary from the real world; Fender vs Gibson, tubes vs modellers and vintage vs new is political enough.

I really appreciate this forum, maybe more than any other forum I've been a part of for the discussion and overall decorum (Let's Talk Guild is similarly good-hearted fun, they're just not as active over there).

I don't even own a Telecaster currently, but the off-topic conversation and general knowledge of the group here is what keeps me coming back.

There have been some threads that have been shut down that make me scratch my head a bit. But I'd take keeping a lot of that to a minimum and being a little more on the liberal side with shutting it down versus having that discussion all over the place on a forum such as this.

So, cheers to you all, I say.

So many topics related on the political fringe. You bring them up, and head cases come and boom gone, social interaction doesn't happen. And it is not happening in society cause we purposely shut it out. No talking to or petting the Elephant in your 15x15 room. And for instance, I thought MA PA stores, with all the rioting and looting, soon all we'll have are repair places and on line shopping. Politics can be discussed civilly, just people overly rude on both sides kill the deal. I actually called a couple of guitar stores I know and asked them to take the more valuable guitars home.

To be fair, that was a thread started because of a statement issued by Fender, not some random political group.

I get that this is supposed to be a fun, informative, apolitical forum, as it should be, but it‘s human nature that Telecaster enthusiasts might want to discuss a statement issued by Fender.

If there's one thing we know, it's that yahoos are everywhere and this is why we can't have nice things. The rules for this forum were earned through experience. Totally worth it.

    Thanks to the mods.

I have pushed the mod's buttons a few times myself, and yes, I am glad to find here on TDPRI that Fender put out a statement, but during this troubling time, the moderators have done a great job drawing the line and I appreciate it more than ever right now. Let's give them a break and stick to the rules.

A bunch of unruly guitar players must be a handful, so thanks Mods for keeping us in line.
