.............For not making being Left Handed some sort of freak show accident like many people consider it to be.

For anyone that cares, Ringo was left handed as well making the Beatles 50% Left Handed. Amazing being that in the general population, 10% or less of people are Left Handed.

I'm left handed but play right handed. Guess I'm a real freak.

Not really. Phil Mickelson (golfer) is right handed but plays left handed as he learned by mirroring the movements of his coach. I'm sure it happens more often than we imagine, and in all walks of life.

My ex-boss / best friend was left handed but the school he attended did its damnedest to force him to become right handed.

Apparently, being left handed was regarded as almost "evil" as sinistral (of the left side) has the same origin as sinister and many church schools didn't like having lefties - even up to the 1960s / 1970s.

Left handers are more artistic; I'm surprised there aren't more left handed musicians.

Still don't get left handed guitars and basses. Ringo never had a left handed drum kit, he just learned to play the drums. Ever seen a left handed piano, clarinet, trumpet, xylophone? There's nothing that sets apart what the left hand does on guitar that marks it out as being best performed by the dominant hand.

Nope. Completely wrong. Mark Knofler is left handed and plays rightly. You are in some very good company.

Me? After almost 30 years of playing righty I switched over to lefty. My playing still sucks, but it does feel normal to me at least.

Good friend, one of the best bass guitar players I know, is lefty and plays righty. Most who initially learned in an orchestra do the same. He started on cello. Can't play a cello lefty in an orchestra.

With all of his fame, no piano company bothered to make him a left-handed model. Jerks.

Glad we got that straight. All these years I thought I was doing what felt natural, but at the end of the day, I just want to be different.

You don’t have to get it...and that argument is completely ridiculous.

    Me too....
I've often wondered if that's why I feel my right hand dexterity (finger picking) seems less accomplished than my chord playing dexterity.

I've read long ago that most left handed people are right handed when an activity requires using both hands.
Don't know if that still holds true today though.

    A good weekend to all.....

was? Still is because he's not dead! 78 years old and still touring. Read that Ringo credits his good health to being a vegetarian and that he eats broccoli with every meal.....yikes!, now that's dedication!

Well, OK, my bad then. Defiantly an is person and still is. Despite being crippled by being left handed, we still love ya Ringo.

What do you call a person that hangs out with musicians? Duh. A drummer of course. :D

If I had only known, Mark (Knofler) completely broke the mold for being left handed. If I had known, I would be playing R/H today. But life is what it is.......

I'm certainly grateful to Paul and his bandmates for the music they gave the world, which has enriched my life. I'm not really sure how he might have made being left-handed a "freak-show accident," but thanks . . . I guess?
