Does anyone know of any good techs in the DFW area? Preferably as close to Frisco as possible?

    Hey y'all!

Any fellow Dallasites doing any Western Swing or Country Jazz? I've been working on some old tunes and would love to find some other players in town to practice and jam with.

I'm around the Wharton aera, about an hour south east of Houston. Born and raised here, wouldn't live anywhere else.

Hey sorry I'm late to the party.

I was actually born & raised a Yankee (around the Philly area). Moved down here south of Houston in 2011. Been loving it ever since.

Hope I don't get driven out of here for not being a native. Wouldn't mind getting together with some local members & jamming for a bit.

    Gig alert!

    Saturday, Oct 17, Fayetteville, TX

My band (The Sidewinders) will be playing at the BBQ cookoff for the annual Lickskillet Days festival (our 11th year doing it)

We'll be playing from about 1:00 - 6:00 at the SPJST Hall on the edge of town (by the baseball field). Also there's other family friendly stuff at the town square about 2 blocks away.

I'll be playing my '63 Tele :D Stop by for a beer and some BBQ if you can.

    Cheers,
    Doug

Ever play the Houston Rodeo BBQ?

    Hi folks,

My band has an opportunity to play for a cooking team at this year's Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo BBQ Cookoff at the end of this month.

It would be pretty cool to do, but the logistics appear to be a nightmare. Here's some of the challenges:

    1. I live 90 miles from Houston
    2. We are only available to play on Saturday night. This affects load in. A lot of bands play the full deal - Thursday to Saturday. They load in Wed and out on Sunday. We can't do that.
    3. Load in times (where we can get a vehicle into the area) are 7:00 am - 8:30 am Sat morning, but have to be staged from another parking area, so figure 6:00 am.
    4. Load out can only start at 4:00 am Sunday morning
    5. I have to drive to Dallas on Sunday (2+ hours to get home, then 4+ hours to get to Dallas)
    6. They want us to play from about 7-11 pm Sat. The awards are at 8:00, and Cory Morrow and Pat Green are playing at the BBQ area stage at that time. So we're competing with that too.
    7. The head of the cooking team is a very good friend of mine, and this is a pretty big deal for him (to be invited to cook here, it's his first time)

So it's starting to look like a 2-3 day deal just to play for a few hours.

Has anyone played this recently? Is it as bad as it seems like it could be? Any suggestions?

We're border line on turning it down right now.

    Thanks,
    Doug

...no sweat amigo. Check back with us at the end of the season. Or even after the next contest with the Buckeyes.

IMO, I think the Sooners are going to be the Laters with every team south of the Red River this year. How'd you like the game against Houston?

My band, The Sidewinders, will be playing this Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Rek Hill Social Club in central Texas (between Fayetteville and Industry, about 25 miles SW of Brenham)

    https://www.facebook.com/Rek-Hill-Social-Club-1743354955886975/

Cool little beer and BBQ joint, big dance floor, and nice outside gazebo.

    We'll be playing from 7-11.

Hope to see you there! I'll be the one with the Tele! :D

    Cheers,
    Doug

I have Texas Specials in my Tele. Does anyone sell propane or propane supplies? Also what is going on with Austin...seems imported from San Francisco.

Hello, Mesquite here. Anyone know of any jams in the area or looking to start one perhaps?

Whats up over in Mansfield? Don't catch too many local area people around.
