I never understood the hate. He was wasted, woke up and put on his wife’s nightgown, and went wondering around downtown. He didn’t really know where he was. I think he peed on a marker or statue, bit not the actual Alamo.

I see Franklin’s ships nationwide now. I’ve always wanted to go there. I go to Austin maybe once every 10 years and it’s always a rushed trip.

No points off there, it's what most "historians" of that war have been doing since the mid 1800s. Helluva tradition. ;)

My mom's fam came down from Tennesee in the mid 1800s. Fifth gen according to family rumor, no idea if true.

We're frooooooom Big D.... you can guess... get after it ladies.

Last time I went to San Jacinto, I saw a pack of about 20 wild hogs running through the grounds.

It's a real problem, no doubt. I had no idea how bad it had gotten, but the old man drives from here to Dallas every so often to see my sis, and says they like to lay in the road (because it's cool? I dunno) at night... said he near hit a few when he was pushing it early morning on the way home.

F5AE7328-94AF-49E2-B4E7-1621E6164714.jpeg My son visited the Alamo a few years ago. I flew into Dallas Fort Worth Airport from Frankfurt and points beyond on 23 December 2015. I bought a souvenir mug with no country of origin on the label or the mug itself. Unfortunately, I doubt if it was made in Texas but I wanted a souvenir.

    Happy Texas Independence Day, Texans!

That was our anti-littering slogan in the 80s.

This hacker did a PSA, I guess he was okay:

Yeah, there’re millions in the state. I’ve got buddies who are hardcore hog hunters. They said when they started raising the speed limit to 80 on some of the rural interstates, plenty of people were getting injured doing 80, plowing into a pack of hogs crossing the road.

I was born, raised and still live in Texas. Ask most people here "what is TX independence day" and you will get mostly blank looks. Now ask "what is Cinco de Mayo" and most will mistakenly say Mexico Independence Day.

Oddly, I first learned about it watching some thing on Argentine Dogos on Youtube, basically purpose-built dogs for hunting the hogs.

For those of y’all unfortunately positioned outside the border of the center of the universe...
Ever notice when you zoom into the US flag it’s really just a bunch of Texas flags? Why might that be?

Soon the pandemic will be managed and you all can come for a visit.
Until then, remember barbecue doesn’t involve ketchup or propane.
