Testing tru-oil and dye.

    So, update for anyone that finds this thread. For a finish that was applied by hand, and only my second attempt at this- I’m ok with it. First lesson learned, 400 grit will easily rip off an entire coat of tru-oil, and when birchwood recommends “steel wool”, they’re speaking of 0000, because 00 and 000 are still enough to rip off one or two coats. Second lesson, when they recommend using you hands, they don’t mean gloves or finish applicators, they mean your hands.
