That's great. That music should be covered.

I heard a bunch of his stuff on the Gans' Sirius show. Some it was very good, although I have mixed emotions about this cover.

I miss the guitar fills from the original version. To me that's a huge element of the song.

Then my work here is done :D

re: a few of the other posts, I'm not that much for being a purist.... heck even the Dead changed up tempos on some of their tunes, Friend of the Devil, Loose Lucy, etc.... After 25 - 30 years, I think it's worth tweaking the tunes a little ... I thought doing Tennessee Jed with a straight-8 feel was a pretty good idea.

YMMV, as they say ;) but if you liked that track, you'll like the rest of the CD. Some real good cuts and tune choices, but Emory does put his stamp on them.

I think it sounds pretty good, and I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but the thing I usually notice about people covering the Dead (including myself), is how they "dumb it down" a little bit and leave out the intricacies that really made the music what it was.

    I have to dissent.

As a life-long deadhead, I must say: I don't like it at all.

TJ has a quirky, almost syncopated rhythm to it which makes it a very magical tune......and this cover simply steamrollers all over the subtitles.
