    Sure looks it!

    Yeah, my sister used to know him when she was a teen in the civil rights movement. (She's 74 now.) I have a coffee table book of his. Would love to have The Bikeriders and a few others, but his books cost like gold these days.

    It was at least seven, maybe eight years ago.

    We were invited to play a winter gig, for the retirement of a good friend that I work for.
    It was supposed to be inside work, though the interior space of the neighborhood club house would be limited.

    Our girl singer fell out due to a schedule conflict, and then my brother the bass player bailed.
    And so, it was to be just guitar and drums, me and Bob the drummer.

    Worse yet, when we went to load-in, it appeared that we were now supposed to play outdoors on the stone covered patio of the club house.
    It was freezing cold outside.
    Really freezing cold.

    Our host apologized, and explained that the bar and the food service was going to take up much more of the interior room than anticipated, and "it'll be okay, we have all these propane outdoor heater thingies, and you guys will be plenty warm out here".

    No worries.
    The serious music fans and the people who want to dance will be out here freezing with me and Bob, and we will rock the joint.

    Well, we definitely rocked the joint.
    And the propane heater dealeos, though tall and pretty, barely put out enough heat for us to survive the die-hard drunk dancers and music fans.

    I must tell you;
    When it's sub-zero, you have to tune the guitars constantly.
    Sometimes in the middle of songs.

    But me and Bob, we killed it.
    I rolled up the bass response on my amp and PA rig, and we did really well with the guitar and drums and vocals.
    And many of the visitors were invited to come up and sing, which is always a crowd-pleaser.

    At one point, a particularly drunk chick began to shimmy and dance in front of my mic stand.
    Which really pissed off my wife, who was there to photograph the event.

    In the end, we earned our considerable salary.
    And the crowd was cold but happy.

    Funny;
    Alcohol has a way of both freezing your extremities while warming your gizzards.

    Good times.

    Here is Bob at a practice shortly before that same gig.
    We lost him to cancer just February of last year.
    Man, I miss him.
    :(

    A "Gibtone" DC Jr and a 1974X(ish) 18W. I scratch-built both of these 8 years or so ago. I traded the Jr for a Martin and then traded the Martin for(I really have no idea). I took off the Marshall logo on the amp because I felt guilty and put XTONE on it. I'll never get rid of the amp and I built another DC Jr that I called a "Gilligan...Little Buddy model"

    Mine was the Flag of Antarctica.

    Then Paul reformatted the place and we lost the flags.

    Someday I'll get another Flag of Antarctica. But, I figure people know who I am anyway.

    The old Memorex commercial asked the question: Is it live or is it Memorex? I figured that since I rarely play live anymore, I must be memorex. It was just a question of who was going to break the glass. I settled on the Chong Pez dispenser. But here's a couple other candidates that didn't make it.

    Me having fun with my thinline Cab at a gig two or three years ago. One of the band wives snapped the pic on her mobile. It's probably due for an update.
