I built a pine Telecaster during lockdown. The original version is my avatar. Recently I decided to change the body to a MIM Fender alder body and yes, it definitely makes a difference! The sound is fuller, tighter and there is more sustain. I installed an aluminum control plate and pickguard. It also has a 4 way switch.

I know I’m preaching to the choir but, wow! This guitar sounds phenomenal! It’s so balanced with all of the right frequencies coming through the amp. The pickups are a Fender Broadcaster in the bridge and a Fender Twisted Tele in the neck. I’m really enjoying this guitar!

Leo Fender's example of real genius in the world of guitar manufacturing. He really got it right the first time around. The Telecaster has had its ups and downs with popularity, but I think at this moment, it may have its highest point of recognition ever. It's a very simple yet effective design and can accomplish just about any task given to it. With many people building their own versions of it, it is really the perfect platform for the ultimate personal custom electric guitar.
