Telecaster with Kahler tremolo

Does anyone know anything about a Japanese made Fender Telecaster with a Kahler tremolo system ? Probably made in early to mid 80s. I saw one on Youtube and it sounded amazing ! I think it had a humbucker at bridge and single coil at the neck. They were most likely a limited edition run, so doubtful there are any easily available.

It could be a Fender Contemporary Tele model from 1985-85 - I remember playing HH and HSS ones in 1985 with Fender's "System 1" tremolos on them. The System 1's weren't Kahlers, they were made for Fender by Schaller. That being said Fender had some failures with the System 1s and by late 1986 or early 1987 they were using the more reliable Kahler 2500 "Traditional" trem.

I have never come across (either in person or photos on the web) one of the Contemporary Tele models with the Kahler 2500; I've just come across various Strat models with them.

I was unable to locate the Youtube video I refferred to.. I did some research, and I believe it was the System III Tremolo, but the owner said it was a Kahler. I'm sure he said it had the actice TBX electrronics in it... so they're probably not available

I came close to buying a Contemporary Tele about a year ago til someone pointed out I was just basically buying another strat with a tele shaped body.

I had a Kahler on an SG, which was bad enough. The thought of a Kahler (or a Floyd Rose) on a Tele makes me shudder. If you really do want one, don't pay a lot for it. They should be happy you're willing to take it off their hands. Oh, and good luck keeping it in tune.

I have a MIJ Contemporary Tele with the Kahler 2500 in HSS config. The neck is unusual as well as the back is not black painted.

Very nice; thanks for sharing. That is the first one I've seen that didn't have the gloss black on the back of the neck and a System 1 trem.
