I like the metal look since you are going that direction. I would spray it with clear laquer to keep it from rusting. If it is stainless....I would let it be and not put any finish on it.

If anyone has a CAD file for body parts that I could load onto our Plasma table I would like to get a copy. I know nothing about it but where I work we have a very good sheet metal shop and the foreman tells me that our automated plasma system could cut out bodies all day long and they would be perfect. I would love to produce some of these for myself and others but I need the files or, dimensional drawings so I can give it to our CAD department and let them download them for me.

    it is not stainless steel
i gonna leave it this way
only the back the sides and the pickguard has now a verry light green brown rusty collor but you have to look close it looks older metal
thepeforadet plate i want to make it more legal and true metal color
i think the combination would be nice
i will spray it with clear mat laquer becouse i dont want it to get chining

I could see this in stainless, brass, tin, galvanized, silver, gold plated, aluminum....bronze with a nice brown or green patina...titanium....With the holes you could put in a switch and some LED's.....

If you look for the blueprints sticky at the top of the THD page you will probably find a DXF in there.

    Bonjour Dennis,

    Stunning design, congrats!

Juste une suggestion, mon humble avis: ce serait pas mieux et plus simple sans pickguard?

Translation: "Wouldn'it be simpler and nicer without the pickguard?"

You unfortunately won't always be able to find metric plans. Of course CAD programs can convert dxf measurements to metric, but if you don't have CAD software you may need to use a free metric/imperial calculator online. I have done this myself on many occasions. It's a lot of work, but if you are used to using metric, it can be difficult using the imperial system.

    plans

i have found the dxf files of the flying v
i can load it in sketchup but they are waaaaaay to big aroud 4000 mm long lol
when i want it to scale i take one size and scale the hole thing until it fits
its verry easy than i save it again and i have everything whit the right sizes in metric

    here is the link: http://www.projectguitar.com/ref/2010/
i downloaded the zip diferend guitars in dwg and dxf
