Inspired by various TDPRI threads on the subject, I picked up a Squier Affinity Tele for taking with me on business trips. I found the guitar used on Craigslit for pretty cheap, and used it as an opportunity for a mod project :p

    Major changes included:

    *Threaded neck inserts
    *Three saddle Wilkinson bridge
    *Texas Tele pickups
    *New pots and cloth wiring
    *Amber tinted Tru-Oil neck finish
*Mild relicing to an already dinged finish

I posted pics and descriptions of the various steps on my blog -- http://nosguitar.wordpress.com/category/projects/

Just wanted to send out my appreciation to everyone on the forum for sharing their experiences with these various mods. It definitely helps minimize the learning curve.

I'm assuming the threaded neck inserts are so you can take it apart and put it in your suitcase?

The inserts are a smart move............ just a well thought out bunch of mods all round, in fact.

I don't think there is anything better for a guitar neck!

Can I suggest a bunch of bubble-wrap- or a hard shell suitcase? :)

Yeah, the pic isn't really true to life. I wrap the neck in a towel so it doesn't make contact with the body, and everything is padded with my clothing. I've taken it on a few trips now with no problems.
