My Telecaster has played its last note. I live in the Spanish mountains where its 80% humidity. I went to the desert South for a period and the guitar looked like a flying bird it warped so badly. Im back home sorting out tools and pieces to build a new guitar. I can find pick up cavity templates and router bits etc. I cant find the drawings or the body and neck templates. I think I burned them to stay warm one winter. Does anyone have a pdf of an original Telecaster drawings. Im using the 50's reissue pickups from my warped guitar plus all the wiring and parts. Im tempted to stick to original as possible.

Maybe this will help:)

That one has a pickup rout error. The one I linked is the most recent.

Along with the TDowns drawing at the top of this page, I have a thinline and a dual humbucker drawing that I could email to you (they are too big to post). I also have one neck drawing but it is not dimensioned, your could certainly scale it. Neck profiles are available on the net but I prefer to make mine from a guitar I like.

You don't have to let that warped body go to waste. I had a tele body that was beyond usable. I cut the top off with a bandsaw leaving me with a 1/4 inch thick perfect template. You could use a hand saw if you don't have access to a big enough band saw. You could also cut all around it with a table saw then cut through the middle with a hand saw. After you cut it, you could run it through a sander to get it reasonably flat. At a thin thickness you can glue it to a flat board and router the outsides and cavities to perfection. No need to buy anything. A hard template is probably more accurate than tracing around a paper one. You can use it over and over. Have fun.

While we're at it does anyone have any good neck, headstock, and fingerboard templates? I am going to try to do it all from scratch this year and build myself a new tele.

fyi.......thru the body string hole locations are different for different bridges. It is best to drill the holes after you have mounted the bridge.....while there are at least 6 different bridges that I have found, Joe Glaser stated in a video that there are around 15. So far I have found only two locations of the string holes.....

Print the T. Downs drawing out full-size on heavy paper and glue it to a piece of good quality plywood or MDF - then cut and sand to the lines, and you'll have the best Tele template you could ask for !!!

It's accuracy has been well proven.

The Terry Downs drawing is one of the great resources of this forum

How badly warped is the body ? It's a ball park template that can be traced & template(s) made from the tracing. Photos of the warped body ?
If you lay it on a table its 3/4 of an inch from the centre to the edge. Very very warped. The neck, the truss rod burst through the back of the neck. It did come in handy as I used it all to stay warm by adding it to the fire. I have tracked down some original plans I shall draw them too scale I have the paper and drawing board. Ive had a rummage in the wood I have. Its going to have to be pine for the body. A tree I felled 10 years ago and milled with the Alaska mill. I have enough mahogany for the neck and some other wood I cant identify for the fret board. I found all my Stewart Mac stuff so the holes in the neck are easy and I have a huge drill press with a fine adjustment table so drilling the through body string holes accurately is easy. I found my fret press so Im good to go.
