It's a GREAT pickup for a Telecaster. I have a custom handwound set with a P90 neck & single coil bridge, and it's a VERY compelling sound.

As has been pointed out, it's not a standard Tele sound. But it's bold & chunky and BEAUTIFUL.

I played one of the Squier P-90 Teles yesterday and damn near bought it. Great tones and crazy good deal at $219 (floor model).

Austin Tele ace Jesse Dayton plays these almost exclusively (although I think he puts on diff necks)

Harmonic Design makes a p90 that looks just like a stock neck pup. I think they call it the Super Chrome. Good reviews... I like the idea that it fits in the pick guard.

I have a Squier VM Tele Custom P90... Looks good and plays well but a bit lifeless overall. When I get my new amp I'll dig it out and see how it sounds with all valves. Might suit the P90s better.

I'd be very interested to play one of the Modern Player Thinlines...

This thread has some of the best looking guitars in recent memory. Very nice, guys, and thanks for sharing. I am in the process of modding my American Deluxe, to put a bucker at the neck and more vintage sounding single coil at the bridge (I do not like those SCN pickups). So, you now have me already thinking about my next project - P90s. Cheers.

I have one of those Squier Tele Customs and it's one of my two or three favorite guitars. Mine has the HBs, but I want to get the P90 model too. FWIW, a pro setup really brought mine to life...

    Love these pics!

Probably half my posts here at this forum are in praise of the Squier Custom II with p90's! I've gigged (had) mine for 2 years, and I've brought it to every gig. I have a few guitars that may be nicer in price, but none that do what that one can. Make sure you're playing through a good amp is my best p90 advice.

If you want a "full blast" p90 sampler try one of those little Epiphone LP Special ii w/p90's. Vicious little guitars for 120 bucks, no kidding. Where were these rides when I started 30 years ago????

i love my squire custom ll.

not only do i get the nasty growl, but since it's not really worth that much i don't worry about it - if it gets dings it's just fine. i actually play it out most of the time.

Here's one I just picked up on Friday. It's a Douglas Gravity from rondomusic. It rings out very nicely acoustically and has a bit more "punch" than my regular tele. It's not quite as twangy, but has a richness to it I like.

Just played a gig with my buddy, his Tele loaded with 2 Lollar Charlie Christian P90's (middle and neck) and one Suhr single in the bridge position. Wow he's getting jazz tones just like a hollow body out of the P90's. He just rode the wave over my chords and when he switched to the single coil it sounded great............3 pickups in a Tele can be good!!! Fun night, I love it when it's like that!
