Just re-watching Waters Us+Them entire show, and Dave Kilminster playing his Tele with a Floyd. (Yes I know it isn't a Fender)

But mine is, HH Contemporary Floyd (type)

    That's what I call a Telecaster.

    I ain't no chicken plucker.....

In good spirit - a Telecaster

Get your 80's on! Those contemporary teles can do it all. With some clever pick placement and a roll of the tone knob, you can mimic most tele tones.

I love Tele's and I love Floyd Rose's and was ready to say "BUT THE TWO SHALL NEVER MEET". I was wrong, that one you have there looks super cool.

Edit: I just had a closer look, and noticed that trem you have there. I have a Strat from around that same period with the same thing. I removed the locking nut, and fine tuners and it works great as a regular strat whammy too. I think it was missing parts when I got it too... With the fine tune screws gone it has a nice flat comfortable surface.

I think those "System One" trems may have been made by Kahler.

The System 1 Tremolo was designed and manufactured by SCHALLER, of Germany. Kahler Made the Kahler Steeler Tremolo.
I have a 89 MIJ HRR (Hot Rod Reissue) Strat with The Kahler Steeler Tremolo.

Same era as the Contemporary Strats (I have 4 of those)

But they didn't make that many Contemporary Teles. I got it in mint condition from someone who'd bought it himself new, original receipt included. E Series MIJ serial.

I *think* I paid ~$600 for it and feel I got a great deal as it is flawless. I love those humbuckers and they also split.

Here's the thread when I got it, and I still get a laugh from the guy who says it isn't a Telecaster.

The confusion comes from Fender switching from the System 1 trems to Kahler 2520 Traditional trems toward the end of 1986 (the 2nd year the Contemporary models were available in the USA) - but Fender continued to use the Schaller-made string lock instead of switching to the Kahler string lock. When that change happened Fender discontinued the more upscale Strat Contemporary models that used the System 2 and System 3 tremolos, only keeping the models that had originally used the System 1 tremolo in production.

Then they discontinued the entire Contemporary series with the exception of the SSS Strat around the start of 1988 (and started using the Kahler Spyder trem on it). The Kahler Steeler was a later model; I think they came out until late in 1989, but Fender dropped any non-HM series model that had the Spyder and brought out new models (like tooloud's HRR Strat) with the Steeler bridge. Which was used until FMIC became the distributor for Floyd Rose when Kramer went bankrupt.
