Tele Relic Question???

    Perhaps someone here can help me out.I recently bought a reliced Tele style guitar.
    The relic job i think is fairly decent.The neck was not tinted enough for me so I am going to give the Kiwi brown a shot here in the next few days.My question is about the body.The relicing is decent but I would like to add a tad more if I could.Below are some pics to the effect I am trying to achieve.
    The first pic is the guitar I want to relic a touch more.The other pics show the effect i want to achieve.The effect I am talking about is the shading around the control panel and the pickguard.
    Should I attemp this with furniture die,tinted laquer,or shoe polish???????
