It was Don Rich. Then when I bought my first one at age 12, I found out about Roy Nichols, James Burton, and Clarence White.

Luther Perkins, James Burton, Muddy Waters, Billy Gibbons (although he don't really play traditional Telecaster often)

+1 on that, I have drawn more inspiration from that one guy than anyone in my music personally.

Townshend, Keef, and although I wasn't a huge Bruce fan, the cover of Born to Run.

I always associated Page with the Les Paul, although I've learned more about his copious Tele use since.

John Frusciante, and G.E. Smith gave me that last push when I saw that video about his signature model

Wasn't a Tele player for me, it was the sound I got on my Line 6 Variax when it was modeling a 1968 Tele with the pickups in series.

I come from a different era, but it all links into the same.

My heroes on the Tele were Joe Strummer, Hugh Cornwell and Wilko Johnson.

I played whatever I could until I got me a Fender Musicmaster with an Ibanez Japanese Tele as a back-up. Remember I was 15 when these guys burst into my world.

Wilko introduced me to the blues, and the whole world that that encompasses.

Joe Strummer introduced me to people like Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Springsteen etc

Hugh Cornwell likewise with the Doors, Velvets, Beefheart, etc.

Who all influenced other Tele players like Morse, Bloomfield, Page, Waters, etc.

Then again, I have been inspired by players who have never really been associated with the Tele, as well as those who have.

I never really knew who played a tele, I was more of a Les Paul guy. I was a Stones fan and like the way the one Keith played looked. Then I saw Crossroads and thought that the tele in that movie sounded great and at the time I was playing harp in a couple of blues bands so I bought a tele. That was about 1988 and I've tried so hard to bond with another guitar, but a tele is the only thing that bonds with me. I don't think I chose to be a tele player, it's more like the tele chose me.
