You heard me! Now, I for one LOVE twangy Tele tones. But, I'm interested in some players who can still rock a Telecaster without twangin' it up.

I'm ignorant of the matter, so I was hoping for some of you rock and rollers to educate me on the matter.

Would you consider Page's early Supro (or whatever it was, moot point) tone with Zep was twangy? How about Beck's Yardbirds days? Keef? Wilko Johnson?

Educate me people! I'm always looking to add more Tele heroes to my list.

Well it doesn't have to be "rock" per se, I guess I was more interested in Tele slingers that don't use it for the obvious (but great) applications like country twang.

Sounds like I have to listen to more Springsteen. When it comes to everyman Tele Slingers with great social commentary I am more of a Joe Strummer man, but I'm always open to expanding my horizons. Got an album recommendation?

How about Gary Potter's Django-esque stuff?

OK, I admit it, that second one does get a bit twangy in parts, but I just love it (esp the wee headstock bend at 2:34)

    Ted Greene.

edit: "Rock" a Tele can have different meanings. Ted Greene and John 5 both rock a Tele. John 5 plays rock on a Tele.

Davmac and BigBandTele, while I am not a huge jazz guy it is good to see the Tele in other places besides country, rock, and blues bands.

    Prince!

Go about 3:20 in for the solo. I love how Prince gives Dani Harrison (grinning ear to ear) a look like "here's how it's done kid".

That was badass. Prince can play a mean guitar, weird wardrobe be damned.
