so i was on my millionth conference call today and looking at ebay in the tele department and i ran across this item:

the item is not important - I was a little shocked at the (lack) of packing. i was wondering if this is how fender ships their guitars? seems a little thin and if anyone has ever had any issues with shipped items being damaged.

    just curious

How do. I'm new, be gentle with me.

Do you not get your guitars in the manufacturer's packaging in the States then?

My H1 came in its gig bag, in a corrugated cardboard box (opening from the end, not with a lift off lid like in the photo). So did my CD60 and Squier Strat, they didn't have gig bags of course.

That photo looks a little old, maybe Fender have upped their game since?

It says on the box "Vintage"... I guess that is reference to the box and not the guitar!

Looks a little flimsy to me as well....

I would hope that box fit into another box... there is no way that could ship without damage.

    :)

That's the new "naturally reliced" guitar - they send a new one packed like that in a flimsy box and ship it UPS. By the time you get it, it's reliced - no "cookie cutter" relicing here. Can't wait to get mine... :D

The CV's come in a box like that all the way frin China and arrive just fine.

Same with the Japanese made Fenders.

i've had 2 classic vibe telecasters, among other guitars shipped new. most of them come in a foam wrap, inside the little manufacturers box and then inside of a shipping box with some kind of packing in between.
