They are phenomenal. If we ever get back to normal, go see em live if you can. Her voice is magic and Derek Trucks is off the charts on the slide guitar. That entire album is really good too, they won a Grammy for it in 2011.

Derek Trucks is a maestro. I can't think of a contemporary player that better balances technical proficiency and musicianship. There's no doubt that to do what he can do he has to be one of the most talented guitarists out there, but he doesn't overplay, he compliments the tune and doesn't dominate it, and when he steps out to play full-on lead he doesn't overstay his welcome. Dude is all taste in my opinion. Thankfully, he's always seemed to play as part of a larger combo (Allmans, Clapton's band - where I first saw him, and TTB) which explains a lot in my opinion.

Glad you enjoyed it IMadeYouReadThis, and enjoy the rabbit hole.

I love TTB, but my favorite Derek is still his Derek Trucks Band stuff. dTb was a force to be reckoned with.

My first time hearing him was DTB as well, the four piece with Yonrico, Todd, and Bill. DT had just turned 18 and they did a few instrumentals, a vocal. Rinse, repeat.

Bought the first CD from the soundguy. 13/14 instrumentals. Right up my street.

That said I like all the iterations including TTB.

    Artists have to grow.

I'm the odd man out, because I prefer his standard playing to his slide work. IMO, he and Warren should trade duties in the ABB. When they reformed with Dickey doing his thing, and Warren doing his, and also handling the slide duties, they were absolutely phenomenal every time I saw them. Some of the best shows I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot, considering the number of icons I saw at the top of their game in the 60s and 70s.

I'm from San Francisco, while I lived there Susan Tedeschi was often performing at festivals, outdoor shows, and venues. In the 90's and 00's a local radio station played a lot of her music as well. It was cool to be able to hear someone so talented perform regularly, playing with different groups, and often for free.

I’m a big Bonnie Raitt fan. She has a beautiful voice and she is a pretty good guitar player.

I guess if you want to hear the full story, this showed up in my subscription box the other day.

The Studio Jams channel (one of my favorites) has a series called Lest We Forget, where they honor musicians who have recently passed. I saw this performance and decided to look up Kofi Burbridge, which led me to the TTB. After listening to a few more tracks, I couldn't believe I'd been sleeping on this for so long. It's a shame he had to go...

Great, great band. Had the pleasure of seeing Derek Trucks in T.O. with Clapton about 14 years ago.

I'd love to see TTB together with Clapton, while he's still able, to cover tunes from his Delaney & Bonnie and Friends days.

she also dated and played with the late and great Sean Costello. Imagine if he was still around and jamming with them. He was a great dude and very humble, got to do sound for him once.

yup they are great. I learned and charted our that tune right after they released it years ago. The only tune of theirs I rushed to learn and teach my band at the time.

I’ve had the pleasure to meet both Derek and Susan... and had a nice chat with Todd too. Saw Derek back around 1998 with the Allmans and I was hooked. Saw DT band live a couple times after that.
