Best song ever about a young couple getting an abortion imo.

Really captures the bleakness.

Here's a list with what I believe must be the most painful heart-wrenchin' Country songs ever. Feel free to check 'em at your own risk.

Billy Yates "Flowers"
Brad Paisley "Who Needs Pictures"
Clinton Gregory "I Never Thought I'd Live To See My Dying Day"
Clinton Gregory "She Did"
Doug Stone "I'd Be Better Off (in a Pine Box)"
Gene Watson "The Great Divide"
George Jones "Where the Tall Grass Grows"
George Jones "He Stopped Loving Her Today"
Johnny Paycheck "I Did the Right Thing"
Ken Mellons "Paint Me a Birmingham"
Merle Haggard "Uncle Lem"
Merle Haggard "Kern River"
Restless Heart "A Tender Lie"
Rick Trevino "She Can't Say I Didn't Cry"
Tom T. Hall "I flew over Our House last Night"
Tom T. Hall "Three"
Vern Gosdin "Do You Believe Me Now?"
Wade Hayes "I'm Still Dancin' with You"
With not a single woman? AND no Jimmy Rogers? Nah.

The late, lamented Chris Whitley; this one gets me every time:

Aimee Mann, singing about that deadly still moment when you discover it will never work out, as only she can:

Richard and Linda Thompson, when you wish you could just hold one another and make all the hurt go away:

Well, I just found out the singer (Jon 'Pix' Pickford) on this track died a year ago. They were a very good band, I had the album and saw them live around 1976.

That makes it doubly sad for me, this track is one of those 'soundtrack to my life' tunes from when I was young. It's a personal thing...teenage break-ups and all that.

Great track, anyway.
