She's possibly the most popular person the world has ever known and I only know 1 song by her and it's from an SNL episode. I'm not intending to go down any rabbit hole but it says something about her when SNL let her perform a 10 minute song, live.

So I saw that episode and immediately liked this tune. I'm not her demographic but after hearing this one tune, I'd not immediately reach for the dial to change the station. If you haven't heard this, give it a try. You can always turn it off.

All Too Well, SNL

10 minutes of that? It's fine, but no thanks. Sounds like that Kelly Clarkson song Fly away (which is great, and not 10 minutes long).

I want her but I've heard she has a boyfriend. A really, really BIG boyfriend.
When I was in highschool I had a pretty hot girlfriend and one day Mr. Future-NFL lineman kissed her at play rehearsal.

I was probably 5' 8" and 135 wet but I went up to him and said, probably in a feeble voice, "Hey man, that's the last time. If it happens again I'm taking you out back". He apologized!

Back to our regularly scheduled program.

Eh? Funny how folks get so het up over trivial stuff like pop music. As I said, she doesn't interest me in the slightest, but she's worked her arse off in order to achieve what she now has, and THAT is always commendable.

Hey youse, ease up, it's just popular everyday music and thus nothing of real importance!

Don’t know if Blake Lively’s (a Taylor Swift besty) sexual harassment case against Director and co-star Justin Baldoni is on your radar. Taylor Swift is identified as having played a prominent role in pulling strings for Lively, facilitating a smear campaign and helping Lively leverage Baldoni’s film from his control for Lively’s financial benefit.

The preponderance of evidence presented in discovery strongly corroborates Baldoni’s claims of no inappropriate behaviour on his part. By no coincidence, Swift’s PR mouthpiece just issued a press release saying “Swift is temporarily distancing herself from Blake Lively given the information that has come to light.”

That’s a shrewd move for Swift until her PR team is able to whitewash her involvement.

Her dad bought 3% of a small label for $120k (which seems like *a lot* of money for 3% of a brand new label with no releases or financing) so they would sign her. I'd say daddy's money put her more than a couple of steps higher than other aspiring artists.

That said, despite being born with a golden spoon in her mouth and being handed opportunities many of us would have killed for, to her credit, she has kept young girls interested for many years now, so her team is obviously very, very good.
Assuming this stuff is true, that would be a great foot in the door, for sure. No doubt there are talented people who never get a shot, and money/connections can open doors for people. But you still gotta have the goods to capitalize on that opportunity. There's a LOT of rich guys out there who have kids with dreams of stardom - how many make it to the level Taylor has?

I'll put it another way: if I had had a rich daddy, even if he bought me a whole record label, and all the lessons and advantages money could buy, I would not have made it even 1/100th as far as Taylor did. Talent and hard work still matter, even if you get a head start.

I have nothing against her and even enjoy some stuff I've heard, so this isn't a naysayer question, but how is she the first artist to play multiple NFL stadiums on the same tour? That can't be right, can it?

The song is good but not 10 minutes good and it won't make my playlist. I have total respect for her and all she has accomplished. I don't understand the booing and hate. I understand that she is quite generous and charitable as well. Play on girl but I'm taking a potty break at 3:30min

I very much agree.

However, what if your rich daddy also bought you professional and talented ghost songwriters to make sure your songs are hits?

Even so, hard work still matters, and she definitely works hard, and whoever is steering the Swiftie-ship has read the market *brilliantly*.
