Taylor should make it good by you.
One thing to remember is that Taylor uses UV catalyzed polyurethane finish. Its not something the average luthier is going to be able to deal with. You are doing the right thing and so will Taylor.Guitar is currently being shipped UPS Ground (per Taylor recommendations), should arrive at Taylor Guitars 5/14/2025. I'll keep you in the loop as this progresses. Thanks for the advice!![]()
I did send a note to Taylor customer service, still awaiting a response. No battery leakage but the guitar was hanging by the neck on the wall for about 6-yrs with a Taylor strap attached. Possible out gassing or moisture entrapment in that specific area. I saw the small chip as well and I possibly missed this as the strap was covering this area. I did use a drippy hymidifier when I lived in New England on both of my Taylor's and the older one has no issues. Online research turned up issues with adherence using "climate friendly" poly type coatings for a number of years due to CA laws and Taylor may repair since I'm the original owner but may need to cover shipping costs.
Just a quick update, Taylor has received my guitar and they're going to repair it under warranty since I'm an original owner. They're also going to dress the frets for a nominal extra fee. I should receive the guitar back around mid July. Taylor has been very easy to work with on this repair.
