I've only seen the Aerodyne as a bass - I think they look good.
Is "no pg" a stock feature?

    Peace - Deeve

U.S. market models had no guards, except the Strat. Tele and Jazz Bass did not. Japanese market ones did have guards (and they also came in colors other than black).

At some point, the U.S. market Strats lost the guard.

I've always wanted one of the original U.S. market versions, with the guard. The ones without guards are far more common, and a lot uglier IMO.

It’s interesting that you see so many without pickguards, I wonder if that is an anomaly. On any site, you will see at least a dozen PG models for every one without PG. As I said, the AST65 Strat version without the pickguard was made for one year. The first year, and from the third year on til they were discontinued, had pickguards.

The later Classic series are of course different.

Reference the Alston site I linked.
