Somehow since playing one of the first PRS hollowbodies in a store like 25 years ago that guitar stuck in my head. The one I played had a spruce top, mahagony body and had none of the bling of the usual PRS – no birds, no curly maple satin finish ...
It was a light, beautiful playing and versatile instrument – some how they managed to marry the best tone properties from a semisolid, archtop and telecaster. Like the first guitar in this video:
I couldn't afford it back then – but could now.
I've been playing either telecasters OR archtops during the last years depending on the band. Would like to get the best of both worlds in one instrument.
    Talk me out of it.

Buy it! I had a USA PRS and stupidly traded it, been trying to get it back ever since!

US or Korean? US models are great secondhand bargains for the quality.

Go for the SE Hollow body II Piezo
Man do I love mine. Two outputs , one for the 85/15 pickups only and one where you can use both the Piezo Acoustic and the 85/15’s.

I played one of the SE models recently at a GC and was uninspired. Played a few different Gretsch models and was quite surprised at how well they played. Maybe it was a neck thing. I prefer them on the slim side and the Gretsch models felt comfortable. I do have a Harley Benton model that looks very similar to the PRS above, minus the back binding, that plays well after fret leveling and nut work. But I am lets say extremely frugal, so the HB satisfies my urge.

Don't buy it. You don't need an awesome guitar like that.

    .

Since you mentioned Telecaster ... Check out the PRS S2 Vela models.

Brass saddle bridge, coil split bridge pickup, Gretsch-style neck pickup.

They also have a Thinline version that launched last year.

Otherwise, I'd +1 the SE hollowbody AND Harley Benton.
It's not an OR world here. Get a couple of guitars ;)

    Why would you want one?

You'll get it home and discover there's nothing to modify to make it a supremely playable guitar that sounds fantastic right off the rack.

That's not any fun at all. There are no screws to sniff.

    Don't waste your money.

    ;)

Never seen a PRS of any variety that I would reject. Enjoy your new guitar!

I sure as heck aren't going to try to talk you out of it. I think PRS makes really fine guitars.
