While cruising the vast wasteland of bad YouTube demos by home players, I stumbled upon this jewel.

I only had to listen to one song to realize this kid has the rare and elusive "it." Making music seems to come naturally and easily to him.

I know it won't be everybody's cup of tea, but I think this kid is VERY talented. I have subscribed to his YouTube channel.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It's great to see genuine talent and his evident joy of making music.

If you like this, you just might like John Mayer.

    Just sayin'.

(and yes, I like John Mayer)

Yeah, I heard the similarity. I'm not really a JM fan, but I think he's ok.

We all modeled off of someone.

Yeah, I thought of John Mayer...but I thought of Doyle Bramhall II first.

Guitar playing is good and all, but nothing I haven't heard before. His singing really stands out to me though. Great voice and vocal phrasing in the clips posted. Good stuff.

What did you expect? He's covering Jimi songs.

And unlike a lot of folks showing of their skillz on the youtubes, he's not playing with the recording in the background, he's just playing the songs. Very well, IMO. Definitely agree about the singing.

One thing that I like is that in the instrumental portions, especially in Axis, he never breaks the grove or loses the changes. I mean, it's not wanking a pentatonic box over everything but still...

I've heard it before too ... From the best of them! And this is just a kid!

    On this we can agree.

I hear what you guys are saying. Maybe I slighted his guitar playing a bit, but my intent was to just emphasize how good I thought his singing was. Guitar playing was really good of course, but for someone like me who can't sing at all, the vocals are what really grabbed my attention. That's all I meant.

I definitely hit the subscribe button. Looking forward to seeing more.
