Based on the ears, my first thought was a relative of Keef.

Edward (Clapton's birth father) was born 21st Mar 1920 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada
died in 1985 (aged 65). Apparently Eric never knew his biological father and was raised by his grandparents (mom's side).

Yeah, I think that's Eric Clapton's father Edward "Ted" Fryer. In Paul Scott's book 'Motherless child' it says that Fryer was a pianist who spent some time playing juke joints and dives of Mississippi, home of the Delta Blues, that would become so important in Eric's life.

What?? Edward "Ted" Fryer, Eric's father was born in Montreal, Canada. Met Clapton's mom (Patricia) when he was stationed in the U.K. during WWII. She was 16, she got pregnant. Ted returned to Canada after the war and died in North York, Ontario veterans hospital in 1985. He was definitely musical, and played some piano in pubs while in the U.K. during the war and back in Canada.

My uncle, Henry Archer (Harry) Womack, ran across the border from the U.S. to Canada during the German conquest of France and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. He knew Britain would need fighter pilots. He was trained as a fighter pilot and posted to England, There, at RAF Hawarden, Flyntshire, Wales, he transitioned into Spitfire fighters. As he was finishing up his training he applied to be posted to the Eagle Squadrons which were made up of U.S. volunteers. However, he was involved in a training accident and was killed, July 1, 1941 before his posting arrived. He was buried at St. Deiniol's Church, adjacent to Hawarden.

We visited the grave in 1996. Someone had decorated the grave with a poppy. A girlfriend? I'm on the right, my father (his brother) is beside me.

Scott (p. 311-312) writes about how, after the war, Fryer spent years as a wandering musician, moving from town to town and woman to woman and spent some of his time on the road in Mississippi.

You left out everything he did between 1945 and 1985.
