I have a '91 Tak FP360SC with the original preamp.

I'm also interested in this topic.
Can these cool tube preamps be retrofit into older instruments?

Going from memory of discussions on the Takamine Forum, I'd say no, don't try it. You'll screw up a good guitar and you won't get good results.

Some of the late-model Takamine preamps are interchangeable, being mounted in identical brackets. On the Takamine Forum the CoolTube gets lots of respect for its performance, but some see it as a market gizmo, and swear that the other preamps in the line are just as good or better. I don't think I'd swap out the preamp in my Takamine for a CoolTube; it's a great preamp on its own.

P.S. I'd like to see a picture of that FP360SC. I think Takamines are cool, just about all of them.

I don’t own one, but I’m looking for a Tak with it.
    I think they sound great!
I’ve played and recorded with a Cool Tube equipped guitar.
    I was impressed.
    I can’t comment on it’s dependability, but I’d give one a spin.
