I never heard of them until I started looking for a simple reverb pedal. I don't want or need pre-delay, treble boost, mix...knobs. One was my preference.

So in steps @Peegoo and he recommends a T-Rex ToneBug Reverb pedal. It has 2 knobs and 1 switch. I decided to try this thing out and found one for $65 or so.

Short story even shorter, the thing sounds just like an old Fender tube amp. I wasn't looking for a reverb pedal any longer.

I liked it so much I started looking at other T-Rex Pedals and they have some cool offerings. Here is the list of their pedals that I've tried:

Twin Boost - a keeper. 2 channel boost with BMT for each channel. It lights up and has excellent electronic features.
Diva overdrive - not a keeper
Tremonti Phaser - I don't need another phaser but this thing is excellent. Keeper
Whirly Verb - a decent reverb pedal that also has modulation. Undecided about keeping it. I really am please with the one mentioned above.

So what about you? Have any? I'd love to hear what you gotta say. Thanks.

that "cream" knob sounds AMAZING- and then I was disappointed to not find that sound as the basis for other T Rex pedals

I invested in the Magnus, which is four analog effects in one unit - OD, Distortion, Delay, and Reverb (plus a tuner). I was super stoked for it to be a perfect grab and go solution but found all the effects uninspiring in both home and band settings. Flipped it immediately.

I bought their Mudhoney II when Sweetwater had it on sale for $90 late last year. Hasn't left my board since. Wrote a whole post on it back then but I love it's switching system and that both sides are identical. Got one set for a light OD and one set for a heavier distortion.

I owned a Creamer for a while, got rid of it for some reason I can't remember. Wish I had it back on occasion.

I have a T-Rex Gull Wah on my main board - best Wah I've ever heard.
I also use the Booster from the Tonebug series, very nice.
The last one on my main board is the 8Ball Dual Octaver.

The Reptile (old version) is now on my "grab'n'go"-board for sessions.

I also have the Alberta II dual overdrive, but it kind of lives in a cupboard somewhere....but yes, I guess I have a lot of love for T-Rex

A month or two or three ago I found a deal for a new T-Rex Mudhoney II Distortion on sale (new) for $89, so I called the electric company and told my my next bill is going to be late... and used money I didn't really have to spend to buy one at that price.

I have also had their Tremonti Phaser, and excellent phaser in todays modern world of Pgase 90 clones... the Tremonti has a very cool "Grind" knob that adds some sort of overdriven Leslie sort of sounds to the sweep... plus you have choices for how many stages you are using...

They make excellent pedals, and what might be the reason they are so few and far between here in the USA... a dealer friend of mine said that T-Rex has a miserable amount of tedious paperwork that rides along with them sending you items as a dealer. Forms and certifications of some kind, and they are like one of the only companies to make it such a pain in the butt to be a dealer. He has over a thousand pedals on display at his mom and pop store, but doesn't order from T-Rex because they make it such a pain to do so... (not a good long term business strategy, really) (sort of like Gibson, under Henry J, not allowing their dealers (except for a handful 4-5 or so) to post pictures of Gibson guitars on the store's web site. I'm so glad Henry J is gone from Gibson...

They also make a very interesting "Quint Machine" octave pedal... (octave up, octave down, and a 5th up and a "mix" knob)

I do love their pedals when I can find them... here's their product page...

I have the Tonebug OD. Strikes me as a TubeScreamer clone. Looks really cool. I prefer the Bad Monkey, but keep this one around for some reason.

I have an old Bad Monkey SOMEWHERE in this house and I have not been able to find it for several years. One of my favorites.

This is the ToneBug Reverb. The little switch flips from Spring (vintage Accutronics reverb tank tone with that characteristic POINK sound on the attack that makes surf sound like surf) to Modern (digital tone, with the discernable high-end splat/sizzle that was really popular in the late 80s).

As you can see, the switch is flipped to Spring. But I thought it was "spring forward, modern back..." or something like that.

The Bad Monkey has been my staple OD pedal since I bought it over a decade ago. I was lucky enough to try out a number of ODs (former lead had bad GAS, but did loan out his collection), and have just felt it does the best job for me.

My Tonebug looks much the same except with the blue (Daphne? Powder?) finish. Rock solid and it was built in Denmark. I just gave it to my son to mess with. He’s taken over my old Peavey Bandit and I set him up with a Pacifica. He’s using the Tonebug OD to goose a Russian muff pedal and is having a blast with it.

Indeed. Not trying to highjack, just explaining my preference over the Tonebug OD, my second favourite OD.

You're not hijacking anything. Post away. Personally I'm very happy with this thread. Here I thought Peegoo and I were the only people to hear of these guys. 😎

The Moeller OD/Boost is on it's way. I'm counting the minutes.
