That's unfortunate; I wish them luck in future endeavors. I also hope someone buys the rights to make thier stuff if they're inclined to sell it, so the world isn't deprived of a miniaturized cassette tape centered echoplex....

And here I was about to mention that Marc Bolin died in the 70s...I really need to get out more!

    Carry on.

    Too bad; great stuff.
Everytime I've played in their part of Denmark I've been meaning to get to their place and check them out. I never had the time... and now I won't ever. Drag.

I'm cool with it. Haven't played their pedals and don't know anyone who has. In fact, I don't recall ever seeing one of their pedals in person, only online.

I wonder whether it was the replicator or guitar center that did them in

Why would Guitar Center do them in? Wouldn't GC help keep a pedal company afloat by getting their products in front of a lot more musicians?

put it this way ... if GC teeters on the edge of bankruptcy(see numerous 2018 articles), you think it is paying vendors in a timely manner? what if you can't float the debt for GC?

The Replica still holds its own against today's best offerings, tone wise. It was my first expensive pedal, and still only affordable to me because I had a wholesale source. It's too bad they bet the farm on their mechanical tape delays. Even if they hadn't suffered cartridge issues and production delays, the market for a mechanical delay was very small, mostly home and studio settings. I wish all involved good fortune in future endeavors.

I've never owned one, it's been a few years since I've seen anything new from them.
Guessing they will probably just come up with a new name and have a new line of pedals manufactured in china like many others do now.

I love the T Rex engineering phaser. They get bought quickly long around here in the used market.

    Just curious...

Is this just your speculation on GC's business practices, or do you know this for a fact?

GC contributed to Gibson's cash flow problems as well.

I use their Fat Shuga (Boost/Reverb) with small amps that don't have reverb. Excellent unit.

its the nature of supply-chain business. guitar center is not paying cash up front to their vendors ... they're probably on net 90 terms (or greater) ... so if your business and cash flow can't wait around for late payments (or no payments) you're going to suffer (like gibson, fender, marshall have from GC) ... now I can't imagine guitar center was the only reason t-rex is filing ... I'm sure the R&D into their mechanical delays didn't help ... if they're assembled in Denmark then their labor costs have to be a factor as well.

They just were not that popular in the US. I also don't think they were able to compete price wise since there are so many quality built pedals that do what their pedals do for a lot less $$.

Loads of their pedals on Reverb from $60-$299 or so. Snatch them up! They ain’t making anymore. Like real estate.
