diamond emerald or ruby in the end of it sir?...a faberge switch tip indeed
This is Marc Rutters's black chromed brass traditional tip. I don't think he has pictures of these on his website yet.
whichever one is in my parts box at the time....
Top hat is superior for ease of switching. Gotta glue it though.
The best Tip of this thread...
I think I will make some out of lead now that you say that! Lol!
Top hat for rosewood boards, flat barrel for maple.
Top hat is a nice big target for a quick pinkie flick. And with a new cap on a new switch, they don't pop off.
All 3 of my Teles have a white Strat tip on them.
I think Strat tip should be an option on the poll so that you can see how much I’m not voting for it. I don’t have a Strat anymore but I replaced the Strat-tip on my Shergold’s pickup selector with a good old flat-topped Tele barrel tip.
I like a switch tip that plays like butter, cuts through the mix, and that gives me that fat, warm woman tone.
90% of your tone is in the switch tip, after all.
I read it on the internet.
I'm gonna shut up now.
My fave is the flat top, except for when it's the top hat.
I put a top hat on one of mine for a while 'cause I thought it would look cool 'ol school Tele.
Kept bumping it so that didn't last long.
,,, and for me, three.
You're French AND a lefty...that explains it.
The top hat switch becomes a problem if you have a Bigsby, which I often do. Switching from the bridge position is nearly impossible.
Didn’t even know that recessed top was a thing until my Broadcaster arrived, but I like it.
Ooo that is very nice.
No offense taken here, but then...
Ive found the Fender Japan ones fit better , tighter than others as far as staying on .
Don't really have a strong preference. I have one Gibby style switch/tip (see post #58 above), which also happens to be my one humbucker equipped, non-tele style electric guitar. As for my five teles, two have flat tops, one the recessed top, one a top hat, and one a strat tip.
None have ever given me problems about staying on. I literally never notice the difference between the flats and the recessed.
The top hat is not a problem except when it's all the way back; then it's too close to the Volume knob. So maybe that one's my least favorite.
The tele with the strat tip gives the most room for my pinky between the switch and the Volume knob when it's all the way back to the bridge position. So maybe that's my favorite.
