Title says it all, I guess. What's your favorite switch tip on Telecasters? Mine is the round Daka-ware switch tip with the recessed top. I feel it gives a bit more tactility to it. 2nd place for me is a tie between flat top round and top hat, though I find the latter to be a little on the tall side. One switch tip you'll never see me using though is a switchcraft gibson style tip, I don't know why, but it just looks wrong to me. (No offence to those who like it!)

    Anything but a Top Hat!
Those things jump off when they see me.
I like the round tops best, though the recessed are OK, too.
    Full disclosure:
I greatly prefer a Gibson style 3 way toggle in the Les Paul/Tele Deluxe position.

None on mine, with lever bent down a bit to stay out of the way ...but then I do almost always stay on the neck pickup or pull my tone knob for the series thickness.

    Hi.

I need to get a switch tip for my 50s styled Tele. The bare end went into a cut on my finger the other day. I said "golly that hurt" out loud. And some other stuff...

I use the round switch tips on my Teles but for my larger humbucker guitars I like to use a Gretsch strap button.

I don't waste my time and money on anything other than the black plastic Glendale with a set screw. Marc Rutters now has a recessed top version that is black chromed brass. Looks really nice from the pictures I've seen on his Facebook page. I'll probably add one to my next order.

I’ve always been happy with the standard top hat that my original 73 has.
I’ve a 52RI which has the round switch tip & I don’t find that so convenient.

the top hat is easiest to flip in relation to the knob height for me. you just have to put a little bit of sandpaper in there so it doesn't fall off. but if i had a 50s style instead of 60s style, i probably wouldn't put a top hat switch or flat top knobs on it.

Strat tip replaced the ridiculously oversized always-flying-off tophat.

I have all three plus Strat tips and Gibson style.

The round and top hat varieties get the piece of duct tape over the switch shaft. Then slide the tip on. That usually keeps them in place.

I'm not overly committed to one design or the other. They all seem to work for me.

I like the round ones over the top hats. I've never heard of the recessed top ones, so maybe I've been missing out on something great. I will say, the Gibson switch tip has no business being on a tele, but I kinda like my SG switch tip. It's bright orange, and everybody knows the color orange is dripping in mojo.

I've probably angered somebody with this post. Sorry. ;)

I like the round ones with the recessed tip. I've been known to glue the head of a thumbtack inside the end just because it fits.
