Nah, your avatar is creepy, the Sweetwater calls are just annoying.😁 It is a bit much when all I did was buy a capo or something. I hadn't heard from them for a couple of years, but just yesterday I got a voicemail and an email from someone named "Rhyme" at Sweetwater just wanting to check in with me. I'm guessing she's taken over the accounts for the original dude who bugged me forever before he stopped calling. Here we go again!😁

I've had random calls from Musician's Friend "checking in" with me. I don't mind the followups after a purchase, but see how it can be a nuisance for the one off's. A family member bought me a gift card once and was highly agitated at the followup calls and emails. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea for Sweetwater to have a check box to tick to exclude those calls.

@schenkadere

I received a text from a sales guy at Sweetwater last week, asking if I have any 'projects' he could help me with--and if I do--to please give him a call.

I am extremely tempted to ring him up and see if he's willing to drive from Indiana (or wherever they are) to help me replace 600 feet of split-rail fence on my back 40.

I will gently remind him that HE'S the one that offered his services.

Just let them know. My guy knows I don’t answer or return calls. So he just shoots me a text that says “thanks for the business, let me know if you have any questions or issues”. Fine by me.

Like the man said, ask them not to call.

Much easier than posting about it here.

I interact (by text) with my "sales engineer" occasionally. When I mentioned I had a vintage Strat, but didn't know if the Reverb prices were realistic, he said, "Oh, yeah . . . the guitar players I work with say your guitar might be worth more than some of the those Strats. Get it appraised". I did, and it was appraised 50% higher than similar guitars listed. That doesn't mean I could get the appraised price, but it showed me he took the time to check with his coworkers.

I'm going to cross reference the "Don't like/want the Sweetwater calls" threads with the "Guitar Center didn't kiss my tail when I came in" threads and see if there's any correlation or inconsistencies. Hmmm.

Some people are never happy.

I asked mine if he'd come show my drummer pal not to play so many fills.

Listen, if I want my backside kissed I want in person like it always was, good and proper! If I wanted a digital, virtual rump-snugging I'd been a different website!

and intrusive...I purchased a $30 tuner, I don't need your life story at work and we're not cool guitar buddies, lol. It's annoying. An email would be sufficient.

+1

That's how I felt when I got a follow up call to buying a $20 tube. A few months later, another call came to see what my needs were (or something to that effect).

Then I figured out where to get off their do not call me list.

It’s called sales. Nothing creepy or insidious about it. Half the people complaining there’s no customer service, half complaining there’s too much. These people are trying to make a living, no need to be snotty, snarky or passive-aggressive. If this is the biggest inconvenience in someone’s life, I envy them.

When my guy calls, I thank him for checking up, but I don’t need anything. It takes about 15 seconds.
