When switching out a 12ax7 for a 5751, which one should it replace? The one closest to the power tube, or the the one closest to the input jack?

Looking for a little more clean headroom.

In case that was confusing, here's the order that my tubes are when looking at them from the back:

    .....12ax7 12ax7.................EL-84 EL-84
    input jack .....................................power cord

    Thanks for the help.

    5751

    Sounds like a Pro Junior.
As I understand it, it's (V1) the one closest to the input jack.
Or you could just put a 5751 in both slots.

    5751 is very nice

I have a 5751 in V1 in my '93 Pro jr. I tried one in V2, next to it, but that didn't make the same difference as the one in V1 (as Spoto said "closest to the input jack). So I tried a GE NOS 12AX7 in V2. My Pro jr makes me really smile now :D
I have some JJ's in the power section.

    Try and be surprised!

    cheers Erik

    Thanks!

Thanks for the help guys. It's actually a Gibson Goldtone GA-15RV. I'll give it a try.

In my Dr. Z Carmen Ghia, the 5751 is in the Phase Inverter position (I think that's V2), but I wasn't sure how this works on other amps. So I'll give it a try, as it shouldn't hurt anything.

    Thanks again.
