I already posted about this on ST, but I felt like posting it here for all you Bangles nerds.

When the Bangles first started touring, Susanna Hoffs played a Stratocaster, and it might be either a pre-CBS model or a 62 reissue.
It has a rosewood fingerboard, that's all I know.

She moved on those Rickenbacker and Guild guitars after this, but it is also believed that Vicki Peterson played a Strat as well.

    Here is the original video:

I already posted about Susanna Hoffs playing a Telecaster on this site, so there. Although Susanna Hoffs did play a Rickenbacker in the music video for Hero Takes A Fall, but just the same. I like the tambourine playing in the middle of the video.

I hope someone replies to this post and likes her playing the Strat.

Susanna started on an SG and then moved to Rics and the 12 string Guild. Taylor acoustics too, I think. She did play a Tele for a while, but it was borrowed. No mention of a Strat so it may have been a really short period.

Vicki went through just about everything, from Univox, to Strats and Teles, Carvins, a Gretch and a couple of Les Pauls.

This is all from a Guitar Player magazine interview with the two of them.

Edit: this was a fairly old article, so it’s possible the more recent siting of Susanna with a Tele is one she actually owns now :)

I saw them a few different times in '83 & '84 (sometimes playing as 'The Carrie Nations') and seem to recall Susanna playing a Tele in that period. The Rics followed shortly after.

Then again, I'm sure she played whatever she liked after a point.

Was she playing a Strat in that video? I must have missed it--perhaps I need to watch it again.

I always loved The Bangles, ever since I heard Going Down to Liverpool - they were a great band. I never saw them live, but the live concert videos and clips i’ve seen seem to show that they are tight live.

The Different Light album was overly commercial sounding, but you can’t argue with the commercial success, I suppose.

They average about 10 years older than me, so late teens/early 20s I would be lying if I didn’t say I crushed on them a bit, but for me it was all about the music. My cousin used to crush hard on almost any female band or artist - he listened to a lot of fluff in the eighties in my opinion. But we could always agree on Heart and The Bangles!

Their rendition of Hazy Shade of Winter still gives me chills when I hear it.

My friend is named Susanna and she likes the Bangles. So you’d think I’d have a reason to dislike the group, but I could never dislike the Bangles.

They should be in the RRHOF.

So.... about a week ago I was at a fairly big party, about 30 people, and they had a big screen up where people could pull up anything they wanted via youtube and play it. Then someone pulls up "Walk Like an Egyptian" and it was all over! LOL!!! Literally everyone was all boozed up and having a heck of a time walkin' like an Egyptian! I was ROTFLMAO! In all these years, never have I been to such a gathering where that actually happened!:lol::lol::lol: It was cool to watch ;)

There's a story about that video and the sexy stare that she does at around 2:50 in the video. She said that a few of the bandmates were jealous and accused her of hamming it up. Susanna said that the camera for that shot was way in the back of the venue and zoomed in and she didn't know they were doing a close-up.

Same here. I remember drooling at the 25" color CRT tuned to Mtv when this video came on.

Yep! In the days when you had to actually get up off the couch and change the cable dial on the box... her stare made it worth the effort ;)

Dennis Miller used to do a "Susanna Hoffs impersonation" that existed solely of that one look!
