Surprising great sound from inexpensive Wilkinson HB zebra set.

A friend of mine built a guitar recently and wanted some inexpensive HBs and I found these Wilkinsons at Amazon. Very well made, look great and sound great clean or with OD. I'm not very good at describing tones, etc, but he and I are both happy with these pickups.

A couple of weeks ago I stuck a Wilkinson PAF (Alnico 5, traditional wind/resistance) neck PU in a guitar. Huge improvement! Agree -- they are well made and sound good.

Oh, that’ll relic right out. A little 80 grit, a bucket of acid with bag of steel wool tossed in for good measure, and Viola! ob’s yer bumcle.

I got over that really quickly with my Seymour Duncan SSL-1s. They sound so good I'm proud to explain them if anyone asks.

Wear the Wilkinson badge proudly. They are very good pickups at a great price point!! All Wilkinson items like bridges, tuners etc. a (big) step above any import budget axe!

Here’s my plywood Squier hardtail Strat I dropped a tort pickguard loaded with Wilkinson ceramic WOVS pickups.

If you want some very reasonably priced paf type Alnico II humbuckers I would reccomend the Vanson '57, good quality and great sounding pickups, used them in a few builds.
