I don't claim to be a Surf Genre expert--- barely can play "Hawaii 5.0" theme without wiping out -
But, I did stay in a Holiday In Express Last night ( NOT )

No, but seriously - Even though now everybody seems to like the "Blacked-Out" or, at least BLACK paint scheme on everything from Yamaha SG-2000 Guitars ( 1970 issue)

To the Yamaha 2000 V-Star Classic - And I LOVE them Both-

But, when it comes to 1980 - 1990's Stratocaster copies--- There's WAY too many black ones- so, I can never resist the urge to change the demographics of an era -

$20.00 bucks - out of someones closet - to the paint closet... ( best I remember a 2007 "Starcaster" )

Then I drove 3 hours - brought it back and stripped it down-
Painted - Relic-ed -smeared - clear coated-
Drove 3 more hours and bought a handmade custom maple neck installed it

and some 1964 Stratocaster re-issue pickups... Voila' ...Yeah, I know- I don't know enough about the 'Surf' Genre to know if it passed muster- BUT - The guy who traded me the 1988 Brantly Series 10 Telecaster knew enough to know -HE LIKED IT - And I am still happy with my trade - we also traded a few pick guards.. etc.. so, everyone was happy.

Nice man! Heck of a way to revive a strat body! Looks good to me! You say you got that body, loaded, for 20 bones or was it the body alone? Killer man!

No I bought the whole guitar for $20. They just wanted it gone.I still have the original neck around here somewhere.

Hang onto that Yamaha Sg-2000. It will be a vintage collector's item. Great guitars- lucky you.
( I had the Ibanez equivalent but stupid me sold it).
No, I don't own the Yamaha pictured - it's just a stock pic from heritage auction site or someplace. I can relate on kicking myself for not hanging on to some sweet guitars back before I realized what I had.
