I’ve been looking for a small tube amp that would not need pedals. Maybe this will work. Picked this up on clearance as a display model.

I already swapped out the stock Supro speaker for a Greenback that I had in the closet. The amp seems to have a little more headroom with the Greenback. I’m not sure why since the Greenback is 25 watts VS the Supro’s 75 watt speaker. Probably an American voiced speaker would also sound good.

Sounds pretty good with my Fender guitars. I need to experiment more with my Les Paul with humbuckers.

10 watts, a 6L6 for power, and real spring reverb. It’s really not boxy sounding at all, even for its small size.

Congrats!! If that’s the 12” speaker model, it’s 15 watts. Not a big difference, but worth mentioning.

I absolutely love mine. More every day. I’ve had it about two months now, and I can definitely say “it’s a keeper”.

When mine arrived the stock Ruby branded tubes were super rattly. I replaced them with mullard branded ones (it’s what Sweetwater had in stock and I was in hurry) and they seem to smooth the amp out a bit. Just got rid of some the “clang” and harshness in the high end. Also tightened up the bottom a tad.

Yah, a 6L6 is a 30 watt tube, gotta put out out more than 10 watts.

Well, this is single ended, and true class A, so 15 is about the absolute top of the range, from what I understand. But that’s where it’s rated.

I wish I had hopped on that super half-price blowout sale a few weeks ago. I don’t need another amp, but for $299 it was a no brainer. Too slow.

Congrats! There is a fair amount of love for the BKs here on TDPRI. I love mine as well. Inititally I was finding the gain too fuzzy for my tastes, but have been able to find a sweet spot using knob tweaks and it sounds fantastic. The cleans on it are beautiful, nice and rich and beefy.

I definitely prefer to tweak the amp with lower bass and mids when playing with a humbucker guitar.

I have a Blues King 10 new in the box. 350$ shipped. See classifieds. :)

I changed my mind before it got here. I already have this covered with my 10" PR from the 70's.

All due respect, but maybe you should try it. It’s not similar to a Princeton. They’re both combo amps with a 10” speaker and that’s about all they have in common.

Nice, did you have to re-bias the amp when you swapped tubes?

No. It’s cathode bias. As long as you the correct type, just slap them puppies in there.

The store had it marked incorrectly as the 10”model. That was sorted out at check out.

Maybe I did not do so well if these were selling for $299 in a box.

I got mine from Sweetwater on a Black Friday deal. I got the amp (brand new sealed), the cover, the footswitch, and a really nice instrument cable. All for $329 and free shipping.

You won’t find em for that price anymore. They’re pretty much all gone. Even used ones are selling for quite a bit more than the holiday deals that happened.

FWIW, now that I’ve played it for a couple months, I can say with confidence that would have easily been worth it at full price. I’d like a second one, and if And when I get one, I’ll pay full price if I have to. It’s just a fantastic amp.

Maybe I need to return it (minus the Greenback) because I am missing the foot switch and cover, and I paid more than you did.

At least I’ll make a phone call tomorrow.

The foot switch and cover don’t come with the amp. They’re sold separately. I just got a screaming Black Friday deal. I didn’t know what the amp was really, I just saw a single ended Supro with all the trimmings at half off and jumped on it. I didn’t even k one if I’d like it. Turns out I love it, and I would have happily paid more. As it is I feel like I stole it.

I was really surprise how big the little amp sounds for its size.

Good to know, I’ll feel a little better.

Sweetwater and GC still show $499. I guess these were $599 originally.

Maybe I still did okay, with the marked down clearance price.
