Took a 9 hour ride this morning to look for a super rare bird.

And we found it!
The Stellar's Sea Eagle.
Just a quick pull from my camera on to my phone. Not sure how it will look here and I don't have a laptop in tje hotel room to do a proper job.

Short of going to Russia or Japan, this was a once in a lifetime bird.

Wow, that is a big bird! I just did a quick search and found an article that said it was recently spotted in Maine. Congratulations on finding it.

Excellent... it was here in Massachusetts before it flew to Maine. Hope it finds its way home.

Last week, I did manage to spot one of the snowy owls that hang out here on Cape Cod every few winters.

That is so cool! I've been reading about that bird periodically as it has made its way across the continent. Quite the world traveler, that bird.

The National Aviary is located in Pittsburgh. A Stellar's Sea Eagle got loose a couple of months ago, but they were able to recapture it within a few days.

Those are HUGE birds. Great job Bones.
