I bought a second Fender SCXD to bring to the summer cottage. Yeah a second one ... I just love this little gem of an amp. The one I already have in the studio is being played through either a 2X10" or a 2X12" cab. Since the cottage is small, I don't want to have to deal with an external cab there. So, I had this big enough pine shelf to build a new cab, to house the chassis and a 12" speaker. I made it 2" deeper than the original, to give me more oomph. Here is the whole thing assembled. I made a semi closed back with a piece from an old painting, all with signature at right bottom corner jeangaudet.ca I thought of painting it white, to match the cottage interior. But since the construction didn't come out too bad, I decided I would oil the wood instead. It'll match the floors Metal tape in upper part, like the original cab. Tung oil was used. That smells good ! Partial reassembly with chassis in ... ... and handle. I had a Celestion G12T-100 lying around, so I tested it with that. Not the best match. I then found a Blues Jr III Fender 12" for cheap, that should match the OEM 10" in terms of tone fidelity. Waiting for it now to finish the project.
