@DrBGood - that looks great. I have a SCX2, and a pine box, and a spare 12" speaker from a blues jr sitting right here next to my desk... I hadn't thought about re-homing the amp, but I like what you did there.

The 4 foot long box from Mojotone arrived this afternoon. Wow, that's a lot of Tolex. I think I over-ordered. The grille cloth looks great, also ordered way too much of that. Well, If I totally eff this one up, I'll have enough for take 2.

Speaking of effing up, late last night, with beer goggles firmly in place, I got right out of hand with the clamps and managed to compress the fingers way too far into the tenons, (expletive deleted)!

Oh well, nothing a little Durham's won't fix:

While that mess is setting up, I can cut the baffle board and all the cleats that go inside. Luckily, there's still enough clearance inside for the metal chassis to fit.

Hep, thanks for remembering that bendyha thread: https://www.tdpri.com/threads/super-champ-1983-optimizing.473956/ There's a lot of info there, wow. I think this idea has been festering in my brain, since that thread was posted. I'll set aside some time for reading.

I have the Beyma Legend in the spare refrigerator, with some radio static roaring away. It sounds like an airport, or a box of really angry bees.

I've rehomed my SCXD into an unfinished PRRI cab and installed a Weber 12F150 lite dope. I had a JBL D110F in the original cab, and it was killer, but the larger cab combined with the 12" Weber adds to the bottom end. Before _561.JPG

Can't seem to find pics of the new cab on my laptop, maybe later.

That's what I'm talkin' about. Since I'm using a fake JBL, I want one of those JBL badges!

Edit: I just looked; there's tons of them on ebay, $4 - $118

For a hundred bucks, you can have the cab with the badge attached (no speaker). I might be able to scare up a spare badge to include.

LOL, Then I would have 2 empty cabs! Thanks for the offer, I appreciate that.

OK, so lets get started on the grille cloth:

Uhhh, maybe I ought to install the speaker-mounting bolts first.

PM me, I think I'll be able to find a spare JBL badge. Send your mailing address and I'll sent it to you.

Nice stack. What's the cab ? Can't read the tag in the back.

Beachbum, sweet stack! How do you like that C-Rex?

The grille cloth went on without a fight, yay. The carcass is about ready. Powder and paint, makes things what they ain't. Here's a detail shot of the finger joint. It would be fun to make one with a clear finish, but it would take 2-3 times as long. Tomorrow we take on the Tolex!

Thanks. It's just a run of the mill OSB Kustom Defender cab which as luck would have it was just the right width. I think I paid something like $99 for it back when. I bought mine the first year they came out and when Fender introduced the Head version and matching 12" speaker cab I developed an awful case of GAS and figured that this would be the next best thing.

Wow! What a project. You're making me jealous. I want one like that. All kidding aside that's some nice work. Can't wait to see the final pics.

Love the C-Rex. I know it's probably my hearing more than the amp because I had the same issue with my Twin but for me there's a fine line between Fender sparkle and ice pick. The C-Rex gets me where I need to be with that.

Blue Bill, those finger joints are amazing.

I think I might steal that idea from the squier-talk thread about the Champion 40--I could put that into the blonde cab and give it to my son.

Maybe you should work without the beer goggles.
