Given the recent reports of Super Champ X2 amps failing and that the DSP boards are no longer available… may be time to take account of those here and that history?

I thought DSP's were pretty reliable. If they were subject to failure I would think it would be more widely reported.

I asked this question over on the "Modeling Amp" thread. Didn't think of doing a poll. Well done.
I only got a few responses and most of them corresponded to the poll results. I had an XD and an X2 that both crapped out after 3 yrs. Very disappointed. I was able to replace the XD thru the warranty (traded it in for the X2) but the X2 they would not. Maybe thought I was scamming them.

After buying a Bassbreaker 4 yrs ago I decided I missed the X2 too much and thought I'd try it again hence the thread. Just had a couple of lemons I guess. I figured at 68 I may not be playing too much longer and if it actually last for 5 yrs I'll be happy.
    Thanks again for the poll.

Just noticed you quoted my thread. Hey I'm a source! haha

I have a real 1982 Super Champ that's almost 40 years old. It still works.

Can’t get anything past schmee… yup, caught me top-loading the “poll positives” with #2 AND #6. (Fender writes checks / issues credit for positive PR?) And yeah, my first poll post here. (n00b)

Didn’t mean to alarm anyone but, with Randypttt’s post on his XD & X2 - AND… TonySS’s post on his failed X2 (both within a couple of days of each other here) thought I should check the proverbial waters for others. So far, only those two failures mentioned and only one responding to the poll

Even if one can no longer buy the complete DSP board - I’m not adverse to checking individual items populating that board (should my board ever fail) and then replacing any failed little items (including the DSP chip itself). All-too-quickly it seems, we just throw in the towel and buy new amps.

And yup, stevemc… all of us are prone to immediately assume that worst-case scenario freak-out.

*Check out Dreadnut’s and Bob M’s very cool combo SCX2s with 12” speakers here in this thread: https://www.tdpri.com/threads/fender-super-champ-x2.985979/ Haven’t tried mine with a closed 15” extension speaker cab yet… but I’mma gunna build one eventually.

+1. Sold or selling everything else. Efficient speaker and it more than holds it's own onstage.

Best Fender BF preamp, tube reverb with mid boost and drive channel in a 30lb Champ-size combo with Deluxe Reverb 6V6 output section. Cathodyne phase inverter for super duper touch response.

    Dirty sweet, neat, petite.

I have a Super Champ X2 head. It was made in 2019 and it’s working fine, so I can’t participate in the poll as much as I’d like to.
