I thought the performance was exactly what was expected. This lady can do it all.

She's a smart performer/musician/artist. But above all I personally think her voice is as strong and versatile as anybody in a long time. This was a pop spectacle. I've heard her do some jazzy older stuff and she's just a natural at it...but that's not what sells.

The songs she performed tonight don't blow me away and sounded very generic. But they were what you'd expect these days. I still love her slower, jazzy numbers much more.

She's a refreshing talent. I really enjoy her artistic freedom of expression; she's not afraid of shaking things up, which is a nice change in a world of covers, remakes and copies. Also, the halftime show didn't really showcase her ability to deliver a captivating performance with just her piano and her voice without the props; the show was to give her fans a great medley of her biggest pop hits.

DO you mind jogging my memory to when that was exactly? I'm thinking it must have been a very long time ago, if ever.

She did great! No wardrobe malfunctions either. ;) Houston is thankful.

I can't speak for what refin meant, but there have been some "honest sweat and bones" bands in the past 15 years:

    2002: U2
2003: Shania Twain, No Doubt and Sting
2004: Janet Jackson, Kid Rock, P. Diddy, Nelly and Justin Timberlake
    2005: Paul McCartney
    2006: The Rolling Stones
2007: Prince and the Florida A&M marching band
2008: Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
2009: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
    2010: The Who
2011: The Black Eyed Peas, Usher, Slash
    2012: Madonna
    2013: Beyonce
2014: Bruno Mars, Red Hot Chili Peppers
2015: Katy Perry, Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott
    2016: Coldplay, Beyonce, Bruno Mars
    2017: Lady Gaga

I was entertained. I thought she lip synced too, but then thought maybe
it appeared that way due the extreme sound delay in those arenas. Anyway, I thought she did good, in a spectacle kind of way.

I guess we'll have to wait to see if any of those rate for refin but that's a pretty impressive roster of talent. I didn't see them all but I caught a few of them.

Aside from that, Lady Gaga is a massive talent and an actual honest to goodness musician. I remember the first time I saw her perform on SNL, years ago. I didn't know anything about her but she jumped on a piano mid-song and played he heck out of it and man she can sing. I knew right then and there in this world of pre-packaged and over-produced music, she was the real deal. I love it when she sings classics with Tony Bennet or from the Sound of Music and blows people minds too. Great stuff.

I thought it was a great show. I appreciate her talent very much, she's a great singer, but her music is not music I ever listen to.

She did a Thanksgiving Day Special a few years ago. It was very well done. Very respectful of the holiday. That counts too.

She had an entire Thanksgiving feast for friends and family and at her end of the table she had a piano and
she sang for her guests. Nicely done.

She was a good act. Good performer good voice.. there were backing tracks with her voice as pitch harmony
also, I did see a small band off stage...that was good to see not all tracks..

Hey she came out and entertained. Who cares if she lip synced. It's just disco/pop music anyway. She didn't make any "statements" and did what she was paid for. She has talent and is a professional. She will be around for many many years.

I care if musical performances are lip synced but I have to give GaGa props for jumping off the top of the dome!!! I would never be able to bring myself to do that!! Girl did it while lip syncing a song no less!!! Nerves of steel! Cant stand her music though... but how lame would it have been for Guthrie Trapp to dive into a stadium... Super Bowl half times cant possibly get any more over the top than this one.

Go back and watch the Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers performance from 10 years ago or so.

Be objective, and then get back to me about how that just didn't/doesn't/won't work.

I don't remember everyone questioning whether Beyonce lip-synced last year's Super Bowl performance?

Is it that we hold Gaga to a higher standard than Beyonce?

    Just sayin'

While I don't pretend to follow either of their careers, Beyonce won my respect with her portrayal of Etta James, in Cadillac Records, (she supposedly put her own money behind, it too). But if I had to choose between the two of them, Lady Gaga's both the better musician & entertainer...that's just my taste.
